The restomod are in fashion. It's a fact. But this one is special. It's just that Kimera Automobili has just reimagined the homesick and insane Lancia 037.
Dubbed the EVO37, this model combines the drama and emotion of the Lancia 037 — the road-certified version of the 037 Rally, the Group B “monster” — with today's comfort and technology.
In the development of the Kimera EVO37, such important names as Claudio Lombardi, former director of engineering at Lancia, and Miki Biasion, an Italian driver who won the rally world championship twice, at the wheel of a Lancia Delta, participated in the development of the Kimera EVO37.
This restomod respects the lines of the original model as much as possible and stands out for its very low roof line, muscular shoulder line, split grille in the center and round headlights with LED technology. At the rear, the round taillights, the four tailpipes and the huge spoiler stand out.
Slightly longer than the original model, this Kimera EVO37 has a body in carbon fiber (instead of fiberglass) and uses elements such as kevlar, titanium, steel and aluminum in its construction. All this allowed to reduce the total weight to about a ton.
Still, it maintains a rear-wheel drive and manual gearbox configuration, while keeping the engine mounted behind the seats, in a longitudinal position, like the original.
And speaking of engine, it's important to say that this EVO37 from Kimera Automobili is powered by a 2.1 liter engine — produced by Italtecnica — with four in-line cylinders that has a turbo and a compressor, a solution used in the Lancia Delta S4 .
The result is a maximum power of 521 hp and 550 Nm of maximum torque and even if the small Italian brand does not reveal the records that this EVO37 is capable of reaching, there is no doubt that this restomod will be very fast.
Nothing on this EVO37 has been left to chance and, as such, this model features Öhlins superimposed wishbone suspension and Brembo carbide brakes, while equipping a set of 18” front and 19” rear wheels.
Kimera Automobili has already made it known that it will build only 37 copies, each with a base price of 480 000 euros. The first deliveries are scheduled for next September, but the public debut will take place in July, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
