Mercedes-Benz Pick-up will even advance

The prayers of the great landowners were answered. The Mercedes-Benz Pick-up will become a reality. But the wait will be long…

Mercedes-Benz will proceed with the production of a luxury pickup truck, aimed at markets as different as Europe, South Africa, South America and Australia. But we still have to wait until 2020, when Mercedes-Benz plans to present this model. The announcement was made by Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes-Benz.

According to the head of the German brand, the decision to move to a model of this nature is based on two premises: to help the brand to increase sales at a global level – mainly in markets still little explored by the brand; and in the belief that the pick-up truck market will evolve and grow a lot in the coming years, similarly to what happened with SUV's a few years ago.

Obviously, Mercedes-Benz enters this segment following its own rules “we are going to enter this segment with our distinctive identity and all the usual attributes of the brand: safety, modern engines and comfort. Values that are part of the brand”. The Mercedes-Benz Pick-up (there is still no official name for the model) will be the first ever premium pick-up.
