Fiesta and Puma EcoBoost Hybrid receive new automatic transmission

Anonim

Aiming to increase the efficiency and the pleasantness of use of the EcoBoost Hybrid engines (more precisely the 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid used by Fiesta and Puma), Ford launched a new seven-speed automatic transmission (double clutch).

According to Ford, the Fiesta and Puma EcoBoost Hybrid with the new transmission achieve improvements of around 5% in CO2 emissions compared to the gasoline-only versions. In part, this is because the seven-speed automatic transmission helps keep the engine in optimum operating range.

At the same time, this transmission is capable of making multiple reductions (up to three gears), allows manual selection of gears via paddle shifters (in ST-Line X and ST-Line Vignale versions) and in “ Sport” stays in lower ratios longer.

By coupling this new automatic transmission to the 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid, Ford was also able to offer more technologies for driving assistance in the Fiesta and Puma equipped with this engine.

This transmission allowed the adoption of the Stop & Go functionality for the Adaptive Cruise Control, which is capable of immobilizing the vehicle in “stop-start” and starting automatically whenever the stop is not longer than three seconds.

Adding the seven-speed automatic transmission option to the EcoBoost Hybrid thruster is another important step in our mission to make electrification accessible to all our customers.

Another technology that the adoption of this transmission allowed to offer the Ford Fiesta and Puma EcoBoost Hybrid was the remote start, done through the FordPass3 application.

For now, Ford has not yet announced the date of arrival of this transmission in our market, nor what will be the price of the Fiesta and Puma equipped with it.
