Looks like it's this one. New Nissan GT-R on the plans… and electrified

Anonim

Launched in 2007, the Nissan GT-R R35 it is already a veteran among sports cars, having been the target of successive updates that have kept it competitive and in line with the latest emission standards.

However, of course, the updates only work so far — it's been 13 years now — and despite many rumours, it seems that plans for a new generation of the Nissan GT-R are finally on the table.

Good news, given the turbulent times that Nissan has been living and that has forced it to rethink its place in the world, with its attention shifting to fewer markets, as we reported earlier.

What's next?

One of the most interesting things about the GT-R R35's successor is that, judging by what Automotive News advances, it should… get electrified!

With supposed arrival scheduled for 2023, the new Nissan GT-R may use hybrid mechanics, but not like those provided for by other Nissan models.

So, according to the Spanish Car and Driver, the hybrid system to be used by the GT-R should be very different from those we are used to, more focused on performance than on economy, obviously.

In this way, the Japanese sports car will be able to resort to a system of kinetic energy recovery similar to the KERS already used in competition, including, by the intriguing prototype of front-wheel drive from Le Mans, the GT-R LM Nismo.

In any case, the future of the Nissan GT-R remains shrouded in more doubt than certainty. Until then, we can only enjoy the current GT-R R35 and hope that its successor will live up to the nickname “Godzilla”.
