THE Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 represents the first step in the German brand's electric offensive — it will soon be followed by the new, 100% electric Corsa-e — and is also the flagship of the German SUV.

It becomes the Grandland X and also the most powerful Opel available, as well as the only one to offer all-wheel drive, courtesy of its hybrid system.

The combustion engine — 1.6 Turbo with 200 hp — remains attached to the front wheels as on every other Grandland X, but gains a 109 hp (80 kW) electric motor on the rear axle, with a differential, ensuring all-wheel drive.

The powertrain is complemented by an eight-speed electrified automatic transmission, incorporating a second 109 hp electric motor. And, of course, not forgetting the lithium-ion battery, installed under the rear seat, with a capacity of 13.2 kWh.

the most powerful

The combination of the combustion engine and the electric motor results in a combined power of 300 hp and 520 Nm , making the Hybrid4 the most powerful Opel Grandland X on the market. Performance is also high: just 6.1s at 0-100 km/h and 235 km/h at top speed.

As a plug-in hybrid, it also guarantees electrical autonomy, being able to circulate up to 59 km (WLTP) only using the electric motor — homologated consumption and CO2 emissions stand at 1.3-1.4 l/100 km and 29-32 g/km, respectively.

The electric range also benefits from the presence of regenerative braking which, according to Opel, can benefit from an increase of up to 10%.

The time it takes to charge the battery varies depending on the charger used. There is a 3.3 kW on-board charger, a 6.6 kW charger is available for 500 euros. There is also an option to purchase wall stations — wallbox — with 7.4 kW of power, which allows charging the battery in less than two hours.

The Grandland X Hybrid4's handling is also determined by its selectable driving modes: Electric, Hybrid, AWD and Sport. Hybrid mode automatically selects the engine that best suits your needs, while in AWD (all-wheel drive) mode, you can always count on the help of a driving rear axle.
