Just for China. New Mercedes-Benz Long C-Class is a "mini-S-Class"

Mercedes-Benz used the Shanghai Motor Show, China, to present an elongated version of the new C-Class.

Designed exclusively for the Chinese market, where space for passengers traveling in the rear seat is very much in demand and where the use of private drivers is very common, this long variant of the C-Class aims to respond to all these particularities.

Called the CL-Class, this version saw the wheelbase grow and now has a more classic cut grille, which immediately brings us to the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and with the traditional Stuttgart brand ornament on the hood , which no longer appears in the European version of this model. However, it will also be possible to order this Class C L with an image similar to the “conventional” Class C at all.

    More space and more comfort

Mercedes-Benz did not reveal the dimensions of the C-Class L, but according to the Chinese press, this version is 4882 mm long and 1461 mm high, as opposed to the 4751 mm and 1437 mm of the C-Class that is sold in our country. The width is identical for both variants: 1820 mm

As for the wheelbase, it's fixed at 2954 mm in this Chinese version — and bigger! — from the German saloon, 89 mm more than the “conventional” Class C and 34 mm more than the previous Class C L.

This increase translates into greater legroom in the rear seats and that is one of the biggest differences in this version. However, it is far from being the only one. This class C L also has padded headrests on the rear seats, a longer armrest (and more spacious, with USB ports and cup holders), better soundproofing and a specific suspension with a more comfortable adjustment.

    And engines?

Mercedes-Benz did not specify the engines that will make up the range of this extended C-Class, but the Chinese press reveals that it will be available in two versions, C 200 L and C 260 L.

The first is based on a 1.5 hp gasoline engine with 170 hp. The second can be based on a 1.5 block gasoline engine associated with a mild-hybrid system with 204 hp or a 2.0 block with 204 hp. All versions will feature a nine-speed automatic transmission.
