Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. New engine and already certified by WLTP

Mitsubishi announced that the Outlander PHEV it has already been tested and certified in accordance with WLTP approval tests, making it one of the first plug-in hybrids to comply with the new protocol.

In the 2019 version, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV also received mechanical innovations, with the debut of a new 2.4 l gasoline engine with the MIVEC system. This system allows the Outlander to switch between Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles according to the driving modes used.

Mitsubishi's new SUV engine brought increased power and torque. The new 2.4 l debits 135 hp , an increase of 14 horsepower over the old 2.0 engine that only offered 121 hp, and offers a torque of 211 nm against the 190 Nm of torque of the predecessor.

The electric motor (coupled to the rear wheels) also saw the power rise, offering 95 hp , and is coupled to a new 13.8 kWh battery. In addition to engine improvements, the Outlander PHEV 2019 received a new tuning in the shock absorbers and two new driving modes : the “sports mode” and the “snow mode” — the former offers better response to the need for acceleration and more grip, and the latter improves starting and turning ability on slippery surfaces.
