New Lexus NX already has release date. teaser anticipates revolution

Lexus has just announced that it will introduce the new NX on June 12th. As a teaser, the Japanese manufacturer also revealed an image that gives us the first glimpse of the new generation of this SUV, which should only hit the market in the spring of 2022.

Developed on the TGNA-K platform that was debuted on the Toyota RAV4, the new generation of the NX will undergo a true aesthetic revolution, as this SUV will debut a new style language that will be extended to all future models of the brand.

In the image now published by Lexus, it is possible to anticipate the design of the headlamps, which appear joined by a LED strip running the entire width of the rear. Also noteworthy is the absence of the brand symbol, whose name is now written.

On the outside, we can also expect a torn front luminous signature — full LED — and a redesigned grille (it should remain oversized…), for a much more aggressive overall image, as the Japanese manufacturer “toasted” us in the latest IS.

The interior will also be entirely new and will have a more minimalist approach, dominated by a bet on digitalisation. Expect a large digital instrument panel, a new touch center screen with Lexus' latest infotainment system and high-quality materials.

And engines?

As far as engines are concerned, the new generation of the Lexus NX should keep the NX 350h hybrid version — albeit more powerful than the current one, which has 197 hp — and receive the same plug-in hybrid system that we found in the new Toyota RAV4, in a variant called NX 450h+.

If confirmed, this electrified version of “connect to the plug” will be able to offer a maximum combined power of 306 hp and an electric autonomy of around 75 km.
