Unusual. US presidential candidate anticipates… Electric Corvette

Anonim

Well… it's not normal for us to talk about presidential elections, let alone the US presidential elections that will take place in November. But we made an exception, as the Democratic candidate for the US presidency, Joe Biden, ended up inadvertently revealing that an electric Corvette capable of 200 mph (322 km/h) is “in the pipeline”.

This announcement took place in a video shared on his Twitter account, where, having a classic Corvette Stingray as a “background”, Biden talks about the importance of electric cars for North American manufacturers and how these vehicles can allow the “domination of the 21st century market”.

In the video, Biden ends up saying: "They (GM) tell me they are creating an electric Corvette capable of reaching 200 mph (322 km/h), and if that's true I can't wait to drive it."

Although he himself raises the possibility that it may not be true, the candidate for the US presidency seems to reinforce the argument that an electric Corvette will even be in GM's plans: “Do you think I'm kidding? I'm not kidding".

GM's reaction

GM's reactions to Joe Biden's statements did not wait. Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, GM spokeswoman Jeannine Ginivan said: "I don't know who the 'they' told you (Joe Biden), but we have no news about any electric Corvettes."

Another GM spokesperson, on the other hand, adopted a more defensive posture, making use of the classic response of the responsible and representatives of the brands when asked about future news: "we do not discuss plans for future products".

Despite GM denying Joe Biden's statements, Carscoops says The Free Press will have told sources that an electric Corvette is not only in the plans but will be a reality in at least two years. Before him will come other more “muscled” versions of the American sports car, which also includes an, yet unconfirmed, 1000 hp hybrid.
