Bugatti may only have one model – with the exception of some special and limited models, such as the Divo or Centodieci –, however if there is something that the French brand does not lack, it is new. Proving it is the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport , the latest special version of the French hypercar.
After the Chiron Super Sport 300+, a version focused on pure speed, the Chiron Pur Sport presents itself as the variant more focused on driving.
Therefore, the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport received improvements in terms of aerodynamics, suspension and transmission, and was the target of a careful diet.
Hunt by the kilogram
On the outside, the focus on aerodynamics has translated into the adoption of a larger front splitter, a larger grille, a new rear diffuser and a fixed rear spoiler measuring 1.9 m in width.

Why fixed? Simple, by eliminating the adaptive spoiler hydraulic system Bugatti was able to save 10 kg. On the other hand, the magnesium wheels allowed a saving of 16 kg and the use of titanium in the brakes allowed to cut another 2 kg, reaching a total saving of 19 kg in terms of unsprung masses.
Stephan Winklemann, President of BugattiWe spoke with our customers and realized that they wanted a model that was more focused on agility and dynamic cornering performance.
Finally, still in this “kilogram hunt”, Bugatti offered the Chiron Pur Sport a titanium exhaust pipe, using 3D printing technology. The end result was a total saving of 50 kg compared to the other Chirons.
And the other improvements?
With regard to the other changes that the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport was subject to, these focused on the hyper-sports connections to the ground.
In addition to having some Michelin Cup 2 R tires developed especially for you, the Chiron Pur Sport saw the chassis undergo some revisions, receiving 65% firmer springs at the front and 33% firmer at the rear. In addition to this, the adaptive damping system has been revised as well as the camber angles.
In addition to all this, the Chiron Pur Sport has a new mode, Sport+, which makes the ESP more permissive in some circumstances and received carbon fiber stabilizers.
Finally, on the mechanical level, although the 8.0 l, W16 with 1500 hp and 1600 Nm has not changed, the engineers at Bugatti decided to change the transmission ratios, making the ratios 15% shorter (to improve the exit acceleration cornering) and increased the redline by 200 rpm—it now resides at 6900 rpm.
The new wheels saved around 16 kg.
These moves translate into faster recoveries by around 40% — in 6th gear the 60-80 km/h are done in just 2s, the 60-100 km/h are done in just 3.4s and the 60 -120 km/h in 4.4s. The 80-120 km/h is dispatched in 2.4s.
Due to the shorter step and the increase in downforce values, the maximum speed was reduced from 420 km/h to 350 km/h.
When does it arrive and how much will it cost?
Limited to 60 units, production of the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is expected to start in the second half of 2020. As for the price of each unit, this will be three million euros , this without counting taxes.
