One two Three. This was exactly the number of convertibles that Ferrari decided to dazzle at the Paris Motor Show. The “brothers” Monza SP1 and SP2 appear for the first time before the public in the French capital, and in relation to the 488 Spider Track, the cavallino rampante brand took advantage of the event to reveal some of its characteristics.

You Monza SP1 and Monza SP2 are the first models integrated in a new series of models called Icona (icon in Italian). This series now launched by Ferrari blends the looks of some of the most evocative Ferraris of the 1950s with the latest technology available for sports cars. The first two models in this series draw inspiration from competition barchettas from the 50s of the last century, such as the 750 Monza and 860 Monza.

already the 488 Spider Lane appears in Paris as the most powerful convertible ever built by the Maranello brand. It uses the same twin-turbo 3.9-litre V8 as the Coupé and advertises 720 hp and 770 Nm of torque. Value that makes this the most powerful eight-cylinder in a V-shaped Ferrari ever.

Tradition and modernity combined with performance

The Ferrari Monza SP1 and Ferrari Monza SP2 are directly derived from the Ferrari 812 Superfast, inheriting all of its mechanics. So under the long front hood is the same naturally aspirated 6.5 liter V12 that we found in the 812 Superfast, but with 810 hp (at 8500 rpm), 10 hp more than in the Superfast.

Although Ferrari advertises them as the two “barchetes” with the best power-to-weight ratio, they are not as light as they appear, with the brand announcing a dry weight of 1500 kg and 1520 kg — SP1 and SP2 respectively. However, performance is not lacking, as both the SP1 and SP2 reach 100 km/h in just 2.9s and ride at 200 km/h in just 7.9s.

Despite being radical, Ferrari claims that the Monzas are still road cars and not track cars. Ferrari has yet to reveal prices and production numbers for the two models.

Ferrari 488 Spider Track

As for the 488 Pista Spider, it has the support of two turbochargers to meet 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8s and reach a top speed of 340 km/h. Being convertible, the hood and the need to maintain structural integrity, the 488 Spider Track adds 91 kg to the 1280 kg of the coupé.

Although the price of the new Ferrari is not yet known, the Italian brand has already opened the ordering period.
