Volkswagen T-Roc R. Hot SUV made in Portugal

It may seem ready to roll off the Autoeuropa production line in Palmela, however, and in Volkswagen's words, the T-Roc R that we reveal to you here is still a prototype (very close to the production version). Prototype, but expected to arrive in autumn, Volkswagen's hot SUV prototype will be unveiled in Geneva.

Despite being the sportiest version of the range and being developed by the Volkswagen R division, the visual differences between the T-Roc R and the “normal” T-Roc are discreet. So, the main innovations are the new bumper, the grille, the rear spoiler and the various logos that don't allow us to forget that this T-Roc is not like the others.

Also on the outside, the highlights are the 18” wheels (they can be 19” as an option) and the quad exhaust exhaust — optionally, this can be made by… Akrapovic. Inside, the main highlight is the flat-bottomed steering wheel.

If aesthetically the differences in relation to the other T-Roc are even discrete, the same cannot be said in mechanical terms. So, under the bonnet is the 2.0 TSI 300 hp and 400 Nm (used, for example, by CUPRA Ateca).

This engine is combined with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system and the seven-speed DSG gearbox. All of this allows the T-Roc R to reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9s and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).

To ensure that the dynamic handling matches the power, the T-Roc R features a 20mm low suspension, the Golf R's 17” braking system and progressive steering. The T-Roc R also features launch control, a traction control system that can be turned off, and multiple driving modes, including a new race mode.
