Confirmed. Acura Integra does not return as a coupé, but as a 5-door

THE Integra is even back. After many years and many “orders”, the rebirth of the Integra will happen, even if only as an Acura, Honda's premium “arm” for the North American market.

The official confirmation took place two months ago, during Monterey Car Week. At that time, we also got to know the first teaser, where you could see the headlights of the new Integra, the LED daytime running lights and part of the grille. Just it. Not even the type of bodywork.

Now, that doubt has been dispelled. Acura has just revealed that the new Integra will have an “elegant five-door design”, demonstrating it in yet another teaser, which shows the rear part of the new model.

Along with all this, Acura also released a short video where we can hear the Integra's engine going up in revs and released an image of the 1986 Integra RS 5-Door.

Although we know it mainly as a coupé, the Integra was available in several markets as a saloon.

It should be remembered that in August, during the confirmation of this new model, Acura had put on a show with drones (see below) which allowed us to “draw” the silhouette of the new Integra in the sky, allowing us — together with the new teaser — anticipate a five-door model with a coupé-style roofline.

Other than that, information around Integra's return remains very scarce.

However, it is important to recall the statements made by Jon Ikeda, vice president and brand manager at Acura, when confirming the model's rebirth: the Integra will return “with the fun spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling Acura's commitment to performance precision in every way — design, performance and the driving experience”.

The new Acura Integra is scheduled to arrive in 2022, and only closer to the launch date will we get to know more details about this model, which for now has no Honda version planned, so it should be left out of the European market.
