Tesla Model 3 faces the test of the moose. Test passed?

Anonim

Already several times named as "the best behaved" of the Tesla, the Model 3 (In this case, the Long Range version with all-wheel drive) was put to the test by the team from the Spanish website Km77, in the moose test and came to prove the reason for the praise.

On the best of attempts, the North American model passed the test at an impressive 83 km/h , speed identical to that both the Ford Focus as the McLaren 675LT and Audi R8 V10 managed to fulfill the test.

Even so, and despite the good result, the speed achieved did not allow him to surpass the absolute record holder in the moose test, the Citroën Xantia V6 Activa , which remains the only model that managed to pass the test at 85 km/h thanks to the evolved (and miraculous) Hydractive suspension.

Regenerative braking (also) helps

According to the Km77 team (and as you can easily see from the images), the Model 3 does not show sudden or difficult to control reactions, remaining stable and balanced throughout the test, something that is due so much to the low center of gravity (achieved thanks to battery positioning) as well as fast, precise and direct steering.

In the various attempts carried out by the Spanish team, the Model 3 faced the test with regenerative braking in Standard mode (the one in which its performance is felt the most) and in the lowest regenerative braking mode.

The best attempt was achieved with regenerative braking in Standard mode, with regenerative braking in the lowest mode, the best pass was 82 km/h (and with a small touch of a cone in the mix).

However, the Km77 team made another attempt at a higher speed, with the Model 3 facing “the moose” at 88 km/h, in which, despite dropping some cones along the way, they kept the same healthy reactions, without ever becoming brusque, unpredictable or uncontrollable.

Finally, in the slalom test, the Model 3 makes use of the low center of gravity and good steering to “disguise” the almost 2000 kg, revealing very predictable reactions and without causing excessive tire wear (in this case a Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ).
