Gran Turismo Alleggerita, or if you prefer just GTA. An acronym that since 1965 has been synonymous with the best that Alfa Romeo has to offer in terms of performance and technical capacity.
An initial that 55 years later, to mark the brand's 110th anniversary, is once again associated with one of the most famous names in the history of the automobile industry: the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
The acclaimed Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has been vastly improved and now knows its ultimate double dose version: the Giulia GTA and GTAm . A return to the roots.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is a model focused on offering maximum performance on the road, while the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm (the “m” stands for “Modificata” or, in Portuguese, “modified”) intends to extend this experience to track-days, no compromises on functionality.
Less weight and better aerodynamics
For the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA, the brand's engineers spared no effort. The bodywork gained new aerodynamic appendages and all components were studied again to generate more downforce.
We now have a new active front spoiler, side skirts that help reduce aerodynamic drag, and a new, more effective rear diffuser.
To assist with the aerodynamic development of the new Giulia GTA and GTAm, Alfa Romeo engineers have drawn on the know-how of Sauber's Formula 1 engineers.
In addition to aerodynamic improvements, the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm are also lighter.
The overwhelming majority of the new GTA's body panels are made of carbon fiber. Bonnet, roof, front and rear bumpers and fenders… in short, almost everything! Compared to the conventional Giulia Quadrifoglio, the weight is less than 100 kg.
In terms of connection to the ground, we now have special 20″ wheels with a central clamping nut, stiffer springs, specific suspensions, keeping the arms in aluminum, and 50 mm wider tracks.
More power and exhaust Akrapovič
The famous Ferrari aluminum block, with 2.9 l of capacity and 510 hp that equips the Giulia Quadrifoglio, see its power rise to 540 hp in the GTA and GTAm.
It was in the details that Alfa Romeo sought the additional 30 hp. All internal parts of this 100% aluminum-built block have been meticulously calibrated by Alfa Romeo technicians.
The increase in power combined with the reduction in weight results in a record power-to-weight ratio in the segment: 2.82 kg/hp.
In addition to this mechanical readjustment Alfa Romeo technicians also added an exhaust line supplied by Akrapovič to improve the gas flow and of course… the Italian engine exhaust note.
With the help of launch control mode, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is able to reach 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The maximum speed must exceed 300 km/h without electronic limiter.
more radical interior
Welcome to the inside of a race car with permission to drive on the road. This could be the motto of the new Alfa Romeo Giula GTA and GTAm.
The entire dashboard is covered in Alcantara. The same treatment was given to doors, glove compartments, pillars and benches.
In the case of the GTAm version, the interior is even more radical. Instead of the rear seats, there is now a roll-bar to increase the model's structural rigidity and increase road safety.
The rear door panels were removed and next to the place formerly occupied by the seats there is now a space for the placement of helmets and a fire extinguisher. In this GTAm version, the metal door handles were replaced by handles in… fabric.
A model that exudes competition from every pore.
Only 500 units
The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm will be very, very exclusive models having production limited to just 500 numbered units.
All interested parties can now make their reservation request with Alfa Romeo Portugal.
The price of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm are not yet known, but they won't just include the car. In addition to the car, the happy GTA owners will also receive a driving course at the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy and an exclusive complete racing equipment pack: Bell helmet, suit, boots and gloves from Alpinestars.
Giulia GTA. This is where it all started
The acronym GTA stands for “Gran Turismo Alleggerita” (the Italian term for “lightweight”) and appeared in 1965 with the Giulia Sprint GTA, a special version derived from the Sprint GT.
The Giulia Sprint GT body was replaced by an identical aluminum version, for a total weight of just 745 kg against the 950 kg for the conventional version.
In addition to the bodywork changes, the atmospheric four-cylinder engine was also modified. With the help of Autodelta technicians — the Alfa Romeo competition team at the time — the engine of the Giulia GTA managed to reach a maximum power of 170 hp.
A model that won everything there was to gain in its category and that embodied one of the most desired Alfa Romeo cars of all time by combining performance, competitiveness and elegance in a single model. 55 years later, the story continues…
