As if to prove the quality of the work carried out in our country, it was inaugurated in Lisbon last Tuesday the company's new office resulting from the joint venture between the BMW Group and Critical Software, Critical Techworks, which thus joins the company's headquarters in the city of Porto.
Located in the Entrecampos area, the new seven-story office will house, in addition to Critical Techworks, one of its founding companies, Critical Software. Founded in 2018, Critical Techworks it currently has around 350 employees, and plans to increase that number to 600 in 2019.
Specializing in premium mobility and software engineering solutions, Critical Techworks works exclusively for the BMW Group in areas such as autonomous driving, mobility, on-board software, connected car technology, data analysis, electrification, production and even logistics.
Projects abound
As we told you, in the new space in Entrecampos Critical Techworks will be "half walls" with Critical Software. Founded in 1998, the Portuguese company saw in 2018 the number of employees double to more than 800, in a year of record growth.

According to Critical TechWorks CEO Rui Cordeiro, “the expansion to Lisbon is due to our rapid growth and will allow us to continue to lead the development of cutting-edge onboard and offboard technologies for the BMW Group”.
During our visit to Critical Techworks' new facilities, we got to know some of the projects the young company is working on. So, in addition to software development, infotainment systems are also tested there, digital images of BMW Group products or programs are designed to speed up the entry into production of new models.
