Do you think the Chiron Pur Sport is expensive? Maintenance costs are not far behind

Anonim

Limited to just 60 units and priced at three million euros (excluding taxes), no one expected the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport had maintenance costs contained, not least being the mechanical colossus that it is.

But after all, how much does it cost to keep the Chiron Pur Sport? To find out Muhammad Al Qawi Zamani, a Bugatti fan living in Singapore, visited the brand's new dealership in Singapore and asked a simple question: what are the costs of maintaining a Chiron Pur Sport over four years?

Before we let you know the values, there is something we must point out: they do not include taxes, labor or transport costs and are those practiced in Singapore.

The Chiron Pur Sport's maintenance costs well reflect its exclusivity.

Much more than changing the oil

The first visit of the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport to the workshop (or the visit of 10 specialized Bugatti technicians to the customer's house if the customer subscribes to the brand's maintenance plan) takes place after 14 months or 16 thousand kilometers.

At that time, the engine oil (Castrol Edge Fluid Titanium Technology SAE 10W-60), oil filter, coolant and 16 (!) drain plugs must be replaced. The cost of it all? About 21 271 euros!

Also every 16 thousand kilometers (or every 14/16 months) it is necessary to change the rims, an expense that amounts to 42 641 euros. Ceramic brake rotors and 3D-printed titanium calipers, on the other hand, cost €50,318. Also in the field of braking, cleaning this system and replacing the brake fluid and cables amounts to 50,316 euros.

If you choose the Bugatti maintenance program, a team of 10 people travels to any part of the globe to maintain the Chiron (and the Veyron), being contactable 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As for tyres, these have an “expiration date” of 16 to 18 months and, although there are some options to choose from in this field, prices are always (very) high. A set of tires more focused on comfort (Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3, Michelin Pilot Sport PAX and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 XL) costs 6822 euros.

If you opt for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R specially developed for the Chiron Pur Sport, the value of the four tires is fixed at 35,735 euros.

Four turbos, quadrupled expenses

It's not just ground connections that drive Chiron Pur Sport owners' expenses. After 42 to 48 months the four Garrett turbos that equip this Bugatti have to be replaced, costing a total of 22 170 euros. The air intakes for cooling cost 18,718 euros.

But there is more. In addition to turbos, the fuel tank also has an expiration date. Produced using vulcanized rubber and Kevlar, it costs €37 437. The tuning and calibration of the engine is a little more “affordable”, at 24 391 euros.

Despite having saved 16 kg, the rims “require replacement” every 16 thousand kilometers (or every 14/16 months).

Isolated breakage of glasses? does not seem to us

If the windshield breaks, a replacement costs €51,169 and even the brushes that clean it are expensive, at €3,240. Finally, if by any “bad luck” the paintwork is damaged, the owners of the Chiron Pur Sport can count on an expense of 47,071 euros.

In total, over four years, maintenance costs for a Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport amount to more than 400,000 euros (not counting labor and taxes).

During this period, it is necessary to carry out three oil changes, two changes of rims and tires, and also an exchange of brake discs and calipers, the four turbos, the cooling inlets and the fuel tank.

Finally, if the car is completely stopped, according to Muhammad Al Qawi Zamani, maintenance costs are fixed at around 89,337 euros every 14 months.
