Spanish scrap dealer collection goes up for auction… and there are real treasures there

Anonim

Contrary to the idea we usually have of scrap, Desguaces La Torre, a scrap dealer located on the outskirts of Madrid, has an enviable automobile collection

Dedicated to the activity of dismantling end-of-life vehicles (and the consequent sale of used parts), the Spanish company, owned by Luis Miguel Rodríguez, is one of the largest of its kind in Spain, employing 500 workers.

However, the accumulation of debts totaling 21.9 million euros put the business at risk, justifying the auction of its car collection, to face creditors.

To get an idea of the “jewels” that make up the collection, it has models such as a 1924 Hispano Suiza, a 1914 Metallurgique 18 CV, an Itala 8 Cylinder 8.3l with Avalve rotary valves from 1913, a Renault Fredes Billantcourt from 1900 fully restored, a “young” 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider or even the 1993 Citroën AX Proto, which won the Spanish rally championship.

Finally, the collection also includes models that are part of Spanish history, such as the 1937 Ford 817T used by Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War and the armored Audi V8 Quattro where Prime Minister José María Aznar was following when he suffered an attack to April 19, 1995.
