The newcomer Audi RS3 is one of those hot hatchbacks that arouse huge interest. Why? The RS acronym from Inglostadt says it all, but straight away because this is the first hot hatch in history to reach 400 hp.
with a block of five cylinders in line with 2.5 liters of displacement , able to charge such 400 hp power , the Audi RS3 provides 480 Nm of torque and reaches 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. All of this, with quattro all-wheel drive, even though it is applied via a Haldex differential to the rear axle. Open your appetite? Wait and see…
There are, however, two other German references in the hot hatch segment, they are the BMW M2 — ok, it's not a hot hatch, but a coupe — and the Mercedes-AMG A45 . If the first has a motor six-cylinder in-line with 3.0 liters of displacement and 370 hp of power applied only to the rear wheels, the second mounts the engine 2.0 liters which is the most powerful four cylinder turbo on the market with 381 hp and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
If the specs and powers differ significantly, the numbers announced to reach 100 km/h do not really mean… O BMW M2 announces 4.3 seconds , The Mercedes-AMG A45 claims 4.2 seconds , it's the Audi RS3 says it does it in 4.1 seconds , as we had already mentioned. More than enough reasons to, and just for the sake of science, put them side by side in an exciting drag race.
