Honda's electrical vision for Europe continues with the "e"

Honda took the final version of the “e” to Frankfurt — for the sake of a better read, let's capitalize the “e”. THE… Honda E it is not the manufacturer's first tram, but it is its first high-volume tram for Europe.

As for numbers, these had already been revealed shortly before the opening of the hall.

The compact four-seat, five-door model has an electric motor mounted on the rear axle (rear wheel drive) with two power levels to choose from, 100 kW (136 hp) and 113 kW (154 hp) and 315 Nm of torque for both; it has a compact 35.5 kWh battery and a maximum range of 220 km.

The Honda E's first public appearance in Frankfurt also coincides with the announcement of the start of its production, with the first deliveries of the model taking place, most certainly, at the beginning of next year.

"Today, we take the next step in realizing our Electric Vision strategy with the world premiere of Honda and...a unique electric vehicle that only Honda could develop – a vehicle with extraordinary dynamic performance and new levels of connectivity."

Electric Vision

The presentation of the Honda E also served as a motto for the Japanese manufacturer to announce its plans for electrification for Europe. called from Electric Vision (Electrical Vision), this plan comprises more than electrified cars, with the manufacturer also announcing energy management technologies and services.

A plan that started with the launch of Honda CR-V Hybrid — a model that has already passed through our garage —, with the next step being the launch of the Honda E and will have a new chapter in 2020 with the launch of the next generation of the Honda Jazz, which will only have hybrid options in Europe.

The manufacturer's goal is clear, wanting all of its car sales on the European continent to be electrified vehicles — mild-hybrid, hybrids and electric — by 2025.

Your electric vision doesn't stop with cars. Honda also brought technology for charging vehicles to Frankfurt. THE Honda Power Charger it can be installed in garages, and can either be fixed to the wall or mounted on a pedestal. It has an output of 7.4 kW (single-phase power) or 22 kW (three-phase power) — it allows charging the E battery in just 4.1 hours (32 A power).

For those who do not have a garage, and have difficulty finding charging stations, Honda in partnership with ubitricity (charging specialists), created a solution that allows the installation of charging points inside the lamp posts. This solution comes with an exclusive cable that integrates a mobile measurement device, which links the cost of the load to the tariff contracted by the customer, eliminating the need to have a subscription from several suppliers.

The builder also revealed a prototype of the Honda Power Manager , a “vehicle-to-grid” technology, which allows you to preview a two-way system that links electric vehicles to an intelligent electrical grid. In other words, it allows the intelligent management of energy demand and supply, integrating electric vehicles with existing energy networks. For example, energy stored in a car battery can be used to supply electricity to the home or returned to the grid during peak demand.

This technology was developed in partnership with EVTEC and will be on sale in 2020, currently being tested and being demonstrated in a project in London, UK.

These Honda commercial services will start in 2020, so far, only in the UK and Germany, coinciding with the launch of the Honda E, which will be followed by the other European markets.
