BMW M5 is the new MotoGP Safety Car

This is not an absolute novelty, as this year marks the 20th anniversary — it first happened in 1999 — of the partnership between BMW and its M division with MotoGP.

About to start a new season, the organization of the World Motorcycling Championship once again chose the models with the highest performance of the German brand to be the official cars of the race.

This is the 20th season of the Motorcycling World Championship, which has the BMW M models as official vehicles, where the new BMW M5 (F90) will assume the main highlight as a Safety Car.

In total, seven BMW M models will guarantee support and safety at all events.

The new BMW M5 is the first M5 with the M Performance seal to feature the XDrive all-wheel drive system. To transmit the 600 hp on four wheels , the new super saloon dispenses with its predecessor's dual-clutch gearbox and is equipped only with an eight-speed automatic gearbox called the M Steptronic.

The 100 km/h is reached in just 3.4 seconds, and the 200 km/h in 11.1 seconds. The maximum speed, naturally without a limiter in this case, will be approximately 305 km/h.

For the 16th time, the BMW M Award for the driver with the best results in the qualifications will be revealed at the end of the championship, and the winner will receive an exclusive BMW M.

The first race of the MotoGP World Championship will take place in Qatar on the next 16th to 18th of March.
