Adaptation to WLTP and the Euro 6d-TEMP standard now reaches the most powerful of MINI. THE MINI John Cooper Works , available with three-door bodywork and convertible (Convertible), has a particulate filter added to its sports exhaust system that allows it to meet the most demanding emission standards without affecting performance or efficiency.
The turbocharged 2.0L in-line four-cylinder is kept that way, as does the number of horsepower — 231 in total. It is available with a six-speed manual transmission or Steptronic, the eight-speed automatic.
The performances remain on a good plane, as the 6.3s to reach 100 km/h with the manual transmission (6.6s for the Convertible), as well as consumption and emissions: 6.9 l/100 km and 158-157 g/km when equipped with the manual transmission (7.1-7.0 l/ 100 km and 162-161 g/km for the Convertible); and 6.2-6.1 l/100 km and 142-140 g/km for the Steptronic (6.5-6.4 l/100 km and 148-145 g/km for the Convertible).
What sets John Cooper Works apart?
In addition to the 2.0 turbo adding nearly 40 hp to the Cooper S, the MINI John Cooper Works — JCW for friends — comes with sportier tuning suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, enhanced braking system, specific aerodynamic kit and seats John Cooper Works sports cars.
In addition, when receiving the latest updates made to the Mini, the rear optics now feature the Union Jack motif — the flag of the United Kingdom — and the headlights are in LED.
For those who want to go even further in customizing their MINI JCW, there are options like the “MINI Yours Interior Style Piano Black”, with backlit areas; and on the outside “Piano Black Exterior” with gloss black finishes for the contours of the front and rear optics and grille.
New options also include the possibility of wireless smartphone charging, projection of the MINI logo on the driver's side, as well as customizable products from the MINI Yours Customized range and MINI Connected digital services.
The new MINI John Cooper Works will hit the markets from March 2019, with no prices for the domestic market being known yet.
