The 38th edition of Car of the Year/Crystal Wheel Trophy 2021 which will culminate in the election of Car of the Year in Portugal. It is the oldest and most prestigious award of its kind in Portugal and Razão Automóvel could not be missing, being part of the permanent jury, composed of 20 jurors in total representing the main media in the country.

Predictably, it is proving to be a particularly challenging year for the automotive industry and commerce as well, due to the pandemic. However, the brands responded to the challenge, with this new edition being the most popular ever.

There are 35 candidate models, distributed in seven categories, 27 of which are eligible for the most coveted trophy of all: the Car of the Year 2021. Which one will succeed the Toyota Corolla, winner of the 2020 edition?

Dynamic tests are already taking place in this first phase and everything will be evaluated: from design to performance, from safety to price, without forgetting the topic of environmental sustainability and many more parameters.

There will also be an additional award, the Technology and Innovation Award, where the organization will select five innovative and technologically advanced devices that can directly benefit the driver and the driver. These will be considered by the jurors and later voted on simultaneously with the final vote.

Before we know who the winner is, seven finalists will be selected that we'll meet during the coming month of February. The Car of the Year and the winners of the different classes will be known during the first half of March 2021.
