What can we expect from the new Ford Focus RS. Towards 400 hp?

As you know, the new generation of the Ford Focus is about to be presented. And according to Autocar, we will have to wait until 2020 to meet the most powerful version of the range: the Focus RS. A wait that wouldn't even be that long if it weren't for the rumors surrounding the arrival of the new model.

Autocar talks about an evolution of the 2.3 Ecoboost engine, which currently produces 350 hp (370 hp with Mountune upgrades) for an even more expressive 400 hp of power. How is Ford going to do it? In addition to mechanical improvements in the engine, Ford will be able to associate the 2.3 Ecoboost engine with a 48V semi-hybrid system to reduce emissions and increase efficiency.

With these changes, the power could reach 400 hp and the maximum torque should exceed 550 Nm! As for the transmission, the Ford Focus RS has always used a six-speed manual gearbox, but the next generation may use a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. We remind you that double-clutch gearboxes are a solution that is increasingly in demand — especially in the Chinese market — in contrast to the decreasing expression of manual gearboxes.

The new Ford Focus

The new Ford Focus should represent an evolution of the current generation in every way. More efficient, more technological and more spacious. The exterior dimensions of the new Ford Focus are expected to increase and put it back at the top of the segment.

A strong focus on increasing efficiency and reducing emissions from engines across the range is also to be expected. Ford decided to allocate a third of its budget to the development of combustion engines in electrification solutions. The next generation of the Ford Focus will be unveiled on April 10th.
