It's confirmed. Lancia Delta will return as 100% electric

With 10 years to “show what it's worth”, Lancia is getting ready to resurrect one of its most iconic models: the Lancia Delta . However, this return will be made according to the “trends” of the 21st century, which means that it will abandon combustion engines and will be 100% electric.

The confirmation was given by the executive director of Lancia, Luca Napolitano who stated “everyone wants the return of the Delta and this cannot be absent from our plans. He will return and be a true Delta: an exciting car, a manifesto of progress and technology. And, obviously, it will be electric.”

If you remember, a few months ago we learned that all Lancias launched after 2024 would be electrified and that from 2026 onwards, all the brand's new models will be 100% electric. With that in mind, the new Delta is most likely to arrive in 2026.

Until now a hypothesis, the direct replacement of the Lancia Delta was confirmed by the executive director of the brand.

Before Delta, Ypsilon

As we reported some time ago, the first model of what Luca Napolitano calls “the rebirth of Lancia” will be the Ypsilon, whose arrival should take place in 2024.

To begin with, the new generation of Italian utility vehicles should no longer be “confined” to the domestic market. Furthermore, and fulfilling Stellantis' plan for its premium brands, the Lancia Ypsilon will be presented with electrified mechanics and, almost certainly, a 100% electric version.

Lancia Ypsilon
Ypsilon's successor will maintain its bet on electrification, having to rely on the “mandatory” 100% electric variant.

About the new Ypsilon, Napolitano said "it will be the first step on an accelerated path towards a radical change, to restore the brand's credibility in the premium market".

As for the future of Lancia, its executive director not only confirmed that the focus on electrification, but also pointed to the search for new customers, not only focusing on small models that have ensured sales in recent years, but also on others focused on a “male clientele, with a higher average age; a more modern and European clientele”.
