The Audi RS5 is a model that needs no introduction. Even more so when ABT decides to lend a helping hand… get to know the ABT RS5 R.
Prepared by ABT, the already powerful Audi RS5 gets a new name: RS5 R. A model that was recently crowned with the title of Best Modified Sports in Germany by a well-known publication in the country.
Surprisingly, this RS5 R did not receive a mechanical treatment that makes it a totally demonic machine, as the 4.2 FSI block received only a sport exhaust, fully customized by ABT, which gave the RS5 R another 20 horsepower. In other words, the 4.2 FSI block of the RS5 R now debits an impressive 470 horsepower.
The performance, yes, is worthy of a car that suffered a certain degree of “makeover”. The “wow” effect translates into a top speed of 303km/h, with ABT advertising just 290km/h. The acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is also noteworthy: just 4.3s.
Likes aside, the real 'touchstone' of this ABT RS5 R lies in its body kit, which is entirely made up of carbon fiber panels. Aerodynamically, the RS5 R has a front bumper with air intakes similar to the DTM version, and some details like the small diffusers placed on the bumpers and skirts.
To complete the aggressive look, the RS5 R received ultra-light forged wheels from ABT – 20-inch ER-F model – fitted with Dunlop SP MAXX GT tires measuring 275/30R20.
Inside, the experience is sublime due to the magnificent full coating in Alcântara leather, with carbon inserts that reinforce the “racing” air. The drumsticks, with 4-way belts and a partial roll cage, spice up the recipe for the environment lived on board. In the end, this one, RS5 R, costs a magical 127,940€ in Germany, but you can always buy the ABT kit separately, having to shell out a no less expressive 42,000€.
