With the registration of the patent in Europe, the Japanese brand gives strength to the rumors that take for granted the launch of a compact variant of the Honda NSX.

Having already done so in the US, Honda recently registered a patent for the name “ZSX” in Europe – at the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Although there is the possibility that this is just a precautionary measure to safeguard a possible use of the name in the more distant future, something quite common in the automobile industry, according to a member of the Honda engineering team, the new model will already be in phase. of development.

The Japanese engineer, who preferred to remain anonymous, suggests that the ZSX could use part of the mechanics of the new Honda Civic Type R, namely the four-cylinder 2.0 VTEC Turbo block, in addition to two electric motors on the rear axle. Together, these engines will be able to deliver in the ZSX 370 hp of power and 500 Nm of maximum torque, available very early in the rev band, for a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds.

In terms of aesthetics, the ZSX should resemble a more compact NSX – baby NSX – with the combustion engine in a central position. If confirmed, the presentation of the first prototype could already take place at the Detroit Motor Show, at the beginning of next year, and the production version is only scheduled for 2018.
