Carbon fiber: BMW and Boeing join forces

Anonim

Increasingly used in the manufacture of automobiles and commercial aircraft, carbon fiber is light and resistant. BMW and Boeing believe there is still a lot to discover in this material.

The construction companies leave for Washington after having signed an agreement to research and share knowledge, which will allow them to find new ways to produce and recycle carbon fiber. Both brands put carbon fiber into the future of their productions – the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is 50% carbon fiber and the cabin of the next i3 and i8 of the Bavarian brand will be built completely in carbon fiber. The gains include increased durability, rigidity and reduced weight, making this material attractive to those who live based on these indicators.
