It was born as a BMW 335d but it was in the “church” of Alpina it was renamed as Alpina D3. This little monster is not the antichrist of gasoline engines, but it is programmed to embarrass some. But before you pick up the forks and torches, I'll let you know Alpina first.
Alpina has been an official BMW partner for over 50 years on and off the track. Exclusivity and performance are the mottos of this engine, which uses the mechanical knowledge of the Bavarian brand and tries to extract some hidden potential from its engines. The attention and care applied in the preparations are also visible in the interior, in the details and in the quality of the materials.

The annual production of this firm is around 1500 units, where all copies are numbered as if it were a limited edition. However, exclusivity is paid for, and the values charged by Alpina substantially exceed the values requested by BMW.
Speaking of this Alpina D3 in particular, BMW's in-line 6-cylinder 3-liter diesel block is the company's star. This same block serves as the basis for several versions such as the 30d, 35d, 40d and the M50d. A game of turbos turns this story into an authentic movie. Alpina followed suit and replaced the 335d's standard turbo with two smaller ones.
NOT TO BE MISSED: Smart drivers are as bad as snakes
Larger air intakes, a larger intercooler and a ECU specially calibrated by Alpina gave a kick of 32 hp and 70 Nm. This allows a BMW M3 to shake in the first 50 meters, but although it gains a little more of terrain, the Alpina D3 won't let you go.
The Alpina D3 delivers a total of 345 hp and 700 Nm of torque, which makes it reach 100Km/h in just 4.6 seconds and continues its acceleration up to 278Km/h, making it the fastest diesel in the world. The best part is that with careful driving, the brand announces consumption of 5.3 l/100Km and only 139g/km of CO2.
In short, here we have a versatile, civilized and docile model that is sporty and arrogant at the same time with the rear tyres. A car capable of putting a smile on our lips, without making us cry when looking at our wallet.
