Spy photos anticipate a little more of the renewed Ford Focus

Launched in 2018, the Ford Focus is getting ready to receive a mid-life restyling to remain competitive in a segment that, in the last two years, has seen the arrival of new generations of models such as the Volkswagen Golf, the Peugeot 308 or the Opel Astra .

After a few months ago we saw a prototype of the van in winter tests, now it was time for the hatchback version to be “caught up” in summer tests in southern Europe.

Interestingly, on both occasions the prototypes used corresponded to the more adventurous version of the Focus range, the Active.

What's next?

Obviously, since this is a restyling and not a new generation, the changes should be limited, something that is very evident in the prototypes already photographed. Still, at the front it is to be expected the adoption of slimmer headlights, new daytime running lights and even a redesigned grille and bumpers.

At the rear, the changes should be even more discreet, something that the presence of camouflage exclusively in the headlamps area easily reveals. Therefore, the most likely is that the novelties there are limited to redesigned and slender headlights and, perhaps, to a slightly redesigned bumper.

On the side Focus should not receive any changes.

As for the interior, and although we do not have images that allow us to anticipate much of what will change there, novelties in the field of connectivity are to be expected, with the infotainment system likely to receive an update, and may even appear on a larger screen .

For now, it is not known whether the update of the Ford Focus will include the arrival of new engines, especially hybrid versions. As for this hypothesis, and taking into account that the C2 platform on which it is based, and which is shared with Kuga, supports this type of solutions, there are rumors that the Focus may receive a hybrid plug-in version.

Taking into account Ford's commitment to electrifying its entire portfolio, which will culminate, in Europe, with a range made only of 100% electric models from 2030 onwards, the strengthening of the electrification of the Focus range (which already has mild versions) hybrid) with a plug-in hybrid variant would not be surprising.
