Gunther Werks created the 993 Speedster that Porsche never gave us

Anonim

The last air-cooled Porsche, the 911 (993) did not (officially) receive the Speedster version that some of its predecessors were entitled to. Maybe that's why Gunther Werks threw “hands on” and created this 993 Speedster Remastered that we spoke to you today.

Yet another example of the increasingly common restomod, the 993 Speedster Remastered required a lot of work for Gunther Werks technicians. Why? Simple. Since there was no 911 (993) Speedster, extensive retrofit work was required, leading to a number of structural reinforcements.

In addition to these, Gunther Werks also offered the 993 Speedster Remastered a carbon fiber hood 25% lighter than the original, “Fuchs” style wheels and a 3D printed Inconel exhaust system.

Interior "proof of everything"

As you'd expect, the windshield of this 993 Speedster Remastered is smaller than that of the 911 (993) Cabriolet, and it's even possible to give it up entirely.

Inside, although Gunther Werks' latest creation has a hood, it features weatherproof materials, an aluminum instrument panel and several carbon fiber parts, among which the seats stand out.

Finally, as far as mechanics are concerned, this one uses the same 4.0 l flat-six from Rothsport Racing that was already used by Gunther Werks' own 400R. We are talking then about an engine with 441 hp and 454 Nm that are sent to the rear wheels through an improved version of the 911's Getrag manual gearbox (993).

Limited to just 25 copies and with the start of production scheduled for the beginning of 2022, it is not yet known how much this 993 Speedster Remastered will cost. However, it should be higher than the 565,000 dollars (about 466 thousand euros) requested by the 400R.
