Ken Block at the wheel of Audi's Group S "monster"

Anonim

Recently hired by Audi, Ken Block went to the “Audi Tradition”, a sort of “secret museum” for Audi. There he had the opportunity to learn a little about the brand's history in the competition, however, the most interesting thing were the cars he was able to try: the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 it's the Audi Sport Quattro RS 002!

The first was the car used by Walter Rohrl to conquer the Monte Carlo rally and is one of the icons of Group B. However, the Audi Sport Quattro RS 002 turned out to be the star of the day.

Developed by Audi with “eyes set” on the future Group S — which would never happen after the end of Group B — the Audi Sport Quattro RS 002 never ran, but it is a fully functional prototype.

All this exclusivity meant that the Audi Sport Quattro RS 002 was driven by only six people, with Ken Block being the latest “member” of this exclusive group.

Piloted as "should be"

Despite being “museum pieces”, Ken Block did not shy away from driving the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 and Audi Sport Quattro RS 002 as they demand to be driven: fast. Throughout the video, the famous American driver explains the differences in behavior (and temperament) between the two cars and allows us to see the very rare Audi in action.

Without wanting to spoil the video for you, what we can tell you is that, according to Ken Block, despite sharing the engine, they have a different behavior, as a result of the central positioning of the Group S prototype engine.

Now, after having tested these two icons from Audi's past, Ken Block is getting ready to return to the famous “Gymkhana” with the North American pilot and Audi preparing the “Elektrikhana” which will be launched in 2022.
