In the last couple of decades we have seen a paradigm shift. Naturally aspirated engines almost disappeared from the scene and in their place came units, generally with less capacity, to be sure, but supercharged and more recently coupled to electric motors. The result is increasing numbers of power and torque.
Power warrants all headers, but torque is definitely the biggest benefit from supercharging and hybrid and electric systems. Not only do we now always have greater amounts of this circular force available, we also have it available earlier and in a wider range of revs. So much so that today we have production cars with torque values that were unique, not so long ago, just to trucks.
They are true monsters of torque, and although most of them belong to the top of the car hierarchy, many of them with limited production, continue to be production cars and approved for use on public roads.

5. Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
1044 Nm – A list of monsters that starts with a… demon. The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is destined to attack drag strips, despite being rear-wheel drive. Among his attributes he can “draw” horses! Its acceleration has already secured it a series of records, including the fastest production model in the 0-400 m – just 9.65 seconds -, and also the strongest G acceleration recorded at start-up – 1.8 g.It's also the cheapest car on this list by a wide margin: less than 85,000 euros… in the US, of course!
4. Bentley Mulsanne Speed
1100 Nm – The Bentley Mulsanne Speed is a mastodon. Everything about it is massive, even the engine: V8 with 6.75 liters and bi-turbo. Incredibly, this thruster still shares the foundations with the engine born in 1959. If the power is not impressive – 537 hp – already the torque should be able to affect the Earth's rotation when it comes to moving the 2.7 tons quickly. from Bentley.
3. Pagani Huayra BC
1200 Nm – BC refers to Pagani's first customer – Benny Caiola – and after LaFerrari, the Huayra BC is the most powerful Italian car ever. The Pagani is Italian, but the heart is German, courtesy of AMG: bi-turbo V12 with 6.0 liter capacity, 800 hp and 1200 Nm of torque and just two drive wheels. As if that wasn't enough, the numbers don't have to move that many pounds – just over 1200 kg. Only 20 units will be produced.2. Bugatti Chiron
1600 Nm – Even with a massive 8.0 liter W16 and four turbos, it wasn't enough for the Bugatti Chiron to take first place. Despite everything, for the direction the industry is taking, the W16 could go down in history as the most powerful internal combustion engine with more torque ever, without assistance from electrons.
1. Koenigsegg Regera
2000 Nm – A glimpse of the future? The Koenigsegg Regera is the only member of this list to combine a supercharged internal combustion engine – 5.0 V8 bi-turbo, 1100 hp and 1280 Nm – with a trio of electric motors. Combining all thrusters, the Regera achieves the Chiron's 1500 hp, but adds 400 Nm, reaching 2000 Nm of maximum torque! A plug-in hybrid taken to an extreme, it has no gearbox and is capable of reaching 300 km/h in just 10 seconds. And all with just two sprockets. Crazy!
