Hennessey Cadillac VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupé

John Hennessey is an American who likes to challenge installed powers. BMW M6? Mercedes SL AMG? For him they are too “domestic” cars… he likes gas-guzzling beasts!

Hennessey is a small car preparation company that likes to provoke the car industry. Bugatti launched Veyron and said “Voilá! This is the fastest car in the world”, Henessey launched the Venon and said “Bugatti, please KISS MY ASS!” – You can see the whole story here.

So you're already seeing the stuff those guys are made of. Asking John Hennessey, the brand's founder, to be measured in words or actions is like asking a Viking for table manners, or burping and asking for forgiveness.

And this brings us to Hennessey's latest daydream: Trying to produce the world's most powerful four-seater. And got it! If you think that a major engineering exercise was necessary, you are wrong. Not really. They took a “modest” Cadillac CTS-V, equipped with a 6200cc engine, and ordered that engine to take a spin at the “big billiards”. Which is to say, they replaced it with one of greater capacity.

And when I talk about greater capacity I'm talking about a V8 engine with 7000cc. By this time a normal person would pack the tools and say “ok, this should do it”. At Hennessey the philosophy is different… it's absolute esmifran! So they went shopping and in addition to the gigantic V8, they added two turbos. Result? That's 1226hp at the crankshaft, or 1066hp at the wheel! The equivalent of having a Nissan GT-R engine dedicated to each drive wheel. Maximum speed? Almost 400km/h, and the 0-100km/h achieved in less than 3 seconds. 2.9 seconds to be exact. Phew… that's right!

But in order not to frighten more interested drivers, Hennessey has equipped the CTS-V with a three-level power regulator. The less powerful leaves the car with “only” 800hp.

Seriously? 800hp?! It would be better if they didn't put anything, or else admit that it's a device just for boasting – Oh and such, my car is pulling badly…! Hey wait oh Toni… I have this set to only 800hp! Anyway, no comments.

All kidding aside, the truth is that the Hennessey CTS-V VR1200 Twin-Turbo Coupé – that's the full name of the model – was thought out down to the smallest detail.

To keep up with the engine's momentum – or try to keep up with it, Hennessey has equipped the CTS-V with ceramic brakes, “infinite” tires, and sportier suspensions. Added aerodynamic appendages all over the place to generate downforce et voilá. Here's the winner of the world's fastest four-seat coupe title.

By a margin of what? 600hp?! Lol…

The good news is that Hennessey will only produce 12 units of the CTS-V so you don't need to be afraid to go out. The probability of coming across one of the 12 units is smaller than hitting the Euro-Millions. I hope you enjoyed meeting this beast. Also follow us on facebook – click here.
