Get your wallets ready: This year's edition of the Amelia Island auction promises.

Between March 9th and 11th, all eyes will be on the Ritz-Carlton, Florida (USA). It is there that the Amelia Island auction will take place, an event that, since 2010, annually brings together some of the most beautiful and most desired classics in the automotive world.

This year, the auctioneer Gooding & Company did not leave the credits in the hands of others and is getting ready to take, among others, three very special models: Porsche 934.5, Porsche 964 RSR and Mazda 767B . But let's go by parts.

Porsche 964 RSR

The world of competition does not let up: to the chagrin of many, Porsche had to give up one of its conceptual principles – the rear engine – in the development of the new 911 RSR. Still, opportunities to have an “old-chool” model in the garage are not lacking, as is the case with this Porsche 964 RSR. The sports car belonged to a Japanese enthusiast who managed to register it to be driven on the road, and since then the meter shows only 4000 km.

The name may be weird, but it wasn't chosen at random. The Porsche 934.5 is a kind of fusion between the Porsche 934 and the 935, two competition sports cars from the 70s, prepared to compete in the FIA Group 4 and Group 5, respectively. In addition to being just one of 10 models that have been built, this is the only one with a body approved according to Group 4 regulations, and delivers something like 600 hp of power.

No, it's not the car that Mazda won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991 – this one remains “kept under lock and key” at the brand's museum in Hiroshima, Japan. It is the last of three models developed by Mazdaspeed and which won at Le Mans in the IMSA GTP category in 1990. Since participating at the Goodwood Festival last year, the Mazda 767B in question has undergone a complete facelift, and now Gooding & Company hopes to raise more than €2 million .
