The news comes directly from Japan. Today, the modification of the factory that builds the Toyota GT-86 goes into operation.
“Toyota GT-86 owners demonstrated excessive levels of happiness and entertainment. We were skeptical from the beginning, now we have confirmation: diesel engines are the best and happiness has its days numbered for efficiency, it's inevitable” - confirmed a responsible for the brand. I confess that Japanese is not my strong point, but I'm sure I heard this while we were talking on the phone.
“Fans asked for a more powerful engine, we responded accordingly. The Toyota GT-86 will have 300 hp and a maximum torque of 500 nm at 4,000 rpm", the responsible added that "consumption is a concern these days, so they can count on an average of 5.5 liters at 100 km”. He also guaranteed that the sharing of components with Subaru will continue, so they can expect a Boxer diesel engine under the bonnet – “it will be a bi-turbo version of the 2.0 that equips the Forester, with a few more powders”.
But the question that marked the conversation was why to put aside the rear wheel drive, in favor of an all-wheel drive. The response was overwhelming – “see the photo I sent to your inbox Mr. Diogo. Tell me if you think this type of behavior on the part of your colleague Guilherme Costa is correct.”
“Placing a driver in a situation like this is dangerous and unconscious, such fun could drive him crazy and to an eventual hospitalization…it has been happening, you know, Mr. Diogo? The best thing is to stick with all-wheel drive, you never know.”
We are left with the hope of a manual gearbox as an option…But unfortunately we have just received the news that Toyota will only mount automatic gearboxes on the Toyota Gt-86 as of today. There went the last of its kind...
