Little by little, the starting grid of the E TCR (the first touring championship for electric cars) is being composed and after the CUPRA e-Racer, it is now time for the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR start to be tested, leaving this task in charge, as expected, of Hyundai Motorsport.

Unveiled to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show alongside the Concept 45 and i10, the Veloster N ETCR presents itself as the South Korean brand's first electric competition car, having now completed two days of testing at the Hungaroring circuit near Budapest, Hungary (yes the same one used in Formula 1).

Developed by Hyundai Motorsport, the Veloster N ETCR still represents a first for the team based in Alzenau, Germany, as it is the first model of the brand to present itself with a mid-engine and rear-wheel drive, featuring a chassis developed specifically for this layout.

test to get big

Supporting the Veloster N ETCR test program is the experience gained by Hyundai Motorsport with the i30 N TCR and Veloster N TCR. The purpose of this test plan is simple: to ensure that Veloster N ETCR presents itself in the next year at the E TCR as a strong competitor.

At the same time, Hyundai hopes with this project to establish a new pillar of the company counting that the development of the Veloster N ETCR will also bear fruit in the development of future high-performance electric cars (it will be the one that is supposedly being developed with the Rimac?).

It's our first electric racing car, and the first chassis we've developed for mid-engine and rear-wheel drive.”
